On top of that, our ingeniously simple system virtually eliminates the trip-ruining failures of canister-type drag systems.
Large Arbor For Quick Retrieve
The LX’s large arbor spool increases your retrieval rate so that when that torpedo runs right at you, you’ve got the pick up to stay on it. At the same time, spey anglers have all the capacity they need in the 4.0 & 4.5 inch model to tackle the big rivers where the chrome and the king reign.
Interchangeable Retrieve
Right or left handed… It doesn’t matter. With a simple procedure, you can reel your reel your way.

The laser engraving process permanently etches the anodized finish without fully penetrating the coating to ensure the finish’s anti-corrosive properties are maintained. The process produces a white finish—we cannot engrave in colour.

You can increase capacities by 15% using flat or oval backing.
You can increase capacity of 20# by 75% and 30# by 50% using Gelspun etc.

My LX is just another example of Islander quality. I own about every Islander fly reel model there has been and only once had to send in a 25 year old #2 for clutch service. I love their reels! They are some of the kindest people I’ve dealt with in the fly fishing industry. They back their stuff in the rare case that they have to(even 25 years later!) and they do it with genuine appreciation of the customer. Because I rave about them I want to be perfectly clear that I have absolutely no affiliation with them other than being a proud happy owner of 10 of their reels !

My lx 3.4 is the BEST reel made for trout, bass and light saltwater…wish they would bring back the ir series as they were the ultimate creek reel.
