Once there, in that chaotic moment when the fish is thrashing in the net and the rod is under its most stress, the rugged fiberglass maintains its strength when graphite would shatter.
Premium Components
In order to be selected for this mooching rod, every component of this rod had to live up to our rigorous testing standards. In many cases that meant we had to machine our own. We spared no detail from the titanium carbide guides, to the cork grip with durable non-slip coating, to the anodized aluminum reel seat with cushioned hoods.

Sick of hooking into a big fish and grabbing the rod only to have the butt section fail? Through rigorous testing we developed a custom carbon fiber rear grip and sculpted Delrin butt cap to solve the problem. The result is effortless pickups, year after year, without failure. As an added perk, the butt was designed to fit perfectly in your Scotty rod holders.

Limited Two Year Warranty
For a period of two years after the date of purchase, Islander warrants this rod against failure due to defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty applies to the original purchaser only. This warranty does not cover normal wear, misuse, or loss. Nor does this warranty cover damage due to improper use or improper assembly.

I have fished many different styles and makes of Salmon Rods and these Rods by Islander are some of the best I have had a chance to fish. The action and bend in the rod is more forgiving especially if you fish with a flasher setup allowing the rod to pick up on the slack sometimes created when the fish head shakes and or take short runs at the boat that more often than not, on other rods, ends up with a lost fish using our barbless hooks here on the west coast. What I have found is that both the seasoned and the beginner anglers end up landing more fish rather than loosing them and have a ball while doing it. I highly recommend this Rod for anyone fishing for Salmon trolling or mooching.
