Islander Reels is delighted to have Rob Solo as a "Friend Of Islander".

Rob began fly fishing at the age of eight and since that time has become a renown fly fisher, fly tier, fly designer, guide, author and photographer. He has traveled the Maritimes, Ontario and New York state doing speaking engagements and fly tying demonstrations and classes.

Rob's fly patterns have appeared in numerous fly fishing magazines and fly tying pattern books. Many of his fly patterns are now considered as standards on rivers in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Rob has won many fly tying competition awards and has sat as a judge on many others.

He has spent time with many municipal and provincial agencies as well as private groups in aid of public education with regard to fisheries, fisheries resources and regulations.

Rob was one of four Canadian fly tiers chosen to dress and submit a fly pattern for the 2005 Canadian Fishing Fly Stamp Series. Rob's fly is the "PEI Fly".
